Brass, Wind & Percussion Studies

At the heart of the Department of Brass, Wind and Percussion Instruments is an internationally renowned faculty that includes notable soloists and musicians from leading ensembles. They act as pedagogues, role models and mentors for their students, who also have many opportunities to participate in one or more ensembles. Numerous graduates are prize winners in international competitions and hold positions in ensembles and orchestras.

    The internationally renowned recorder player, ensemble leader, conductor and university professor of recorder, Dorothee Oberlinger, has been awarded the Grand Culture Prize of the Sparkassen-Kulturstiftung Rheinland 2025. The award is endowed with 30,000 euros and is one of the most prestigious German culture prizes. Congratulations!

    International Summer Academy selects 12 award winners 

    Last Saturday, after four intensive weeks under the artistic direction of Hannfried Lucke, the International Summer Academy 2024 came to a very successful end with 55 masterclasses, 13 additional courses and 66 concerts. 550 participants from 53 nations (average age 21) were guests in Salzburg. Twelve up-and-coming artists were honoured and each received 1,000 euros in prize money donated by the City of Salzburg's Cultural Fund.
