Andreas Öttl
Andreas Öttl, born in St. Anton am Arlberg, received his first trumpet lessons from his father and began his musical career in the local brass band. He studied with Lothar Hilbrand in Feldkirch and then with Johann Gansch, the former solo trumpeter of the Vienna Philharmonic, at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, graduating with distinction in 2002.
Following his first professional position with the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, he was appointed first solo trumpeter with the Bavarian State Orchestra in 2002 and has been a member of OperaBrass, the brass section of the Bavarian State Opera, ever since. Andreas Öttl has been a guest at various festivals, including the Salzburg Festival and the Rheingau Music Festival. Andreas Öttl has taught at the Mozarteum University Salzburg since 2005, initially lecturing in orchestral position training and working as an assistant to Johann Gansch. He was appointed as a Professor of Trumpet in the summer semester of 2015, as successor to his former teacher. Andreas Öttl continues to play with the St. Anton am Arlberg band whenever time permits.
