Administrative signature

General Informationen on the Administrative Signature of the Mozarteum University Salzburg

The administrative signature is the legally valid electronic signature of an authority, which is used to show that assessments and decisions have been authorised. Thus the recipient is assured that the document in question has been issued by the official body named in the letter. The official signature is represented by the picture mark of the authoriy (in a similar way to an official seal) as well as notice that the document has been signed using an administrative signature. This makes clear that the document was produced by the authority in question. The authority must give notice of a cross-check mechanism for verifying the signature and provide a service for verifying printouts.

Verifying a printout of a document signed with the administrative signature

The printout of the document can be verified using the contact details of the issuing authority as given in the letterhead. When presented with a printout of the document issued in their name, the sender makes a decision as to whether this was indeed produced by their institution or body.

The printout can be presented to the authorities in any of the following ways:

      • in person
      • by fax
      • by email (scan of the document)
      • by post (original or copy)
