Dario Zingales
MA
The Italian clarinettist Dario Zingales makes no secret of his deep love for German clarinets. Since he joined the Mozarteum University, he has been sharing his great passion with the next generation. His keen interest in recording makes this a focal point of his musical activity, and he also enjoys playing orchestral and chamber music.
Dario Zingales studied at the Mozarteum University with Alois Brandhofer (his mentor and great source of inspiration) and completed his master's degree in January 2012 with distinction. He gained orchestral experience under conductors such as Riccardo Muti, André Previn, Gerd Albrecht and Dennis Russell Davies.
From August 2009 to September 2012 he was Principal Clarinet of the Philharmonie der Nationen under the direction of Justus Frantz. Since 2012 he has been the Principal Clarinet of the Gut-Immling Opera Festival in Bavaria.
In the field of chamber music, Zingales has played with Wenzel Fuchs, Lukas Hagen, Benjamin Schmid, Pierre Amoyal, Thomas Riebl, Pavel Gililov, Peter Lang and Jacques Rouvier. He has recorded numerous CDs for renowned labels, including Deutsche Grammophon, Brilliant Classics, Urania Records, Da Vinci Edition and VDE-Gallo.
From 2012 to 2017 he held the position of Teaching Assistant to Alois Brandhofer, and has fulfilled the same role for Wenzel Fuchs, also at the Mozarteum University, since 2015.
In December 2018 he received the venia docendi at the Mozarteum University as part of his habilitation, and has led his own clarinet studio ever since.
