On 18th June 2025, members of the various curiae of the Mozarteum University voted for their representatives in the senate for the term from 1st October 2025 – 30th September 2028. At the constitutive meeting on 27th June, Univ.-Prof. Christoph Lepschy was elected as Senate Chair for the third time.
This individual project focuses on the role of community in art education theory, school practice and education policy, and is being carried out in collaboration with partners from the universities of Cologne, Siegen, London, Winneba and the Exploring Visual Cultures network (EVC).
From 22 to 28 June, the Mozarteum University hosted the national competition for German-speaking drama students, in conjunction with the 36th meeting for the promotion of young drama talent in Salzburg. The ensemble prize ‘Raus aus der Bubble’ (Out of the Bubble), worth 3,125 euros, went to the 4th year acting class of the Thomas Bernhard Institute and their production “Jederman” (Everyman), directed by Hanna Binder. Amadeus König was awarded in the category ‘Strong Performance’.
The Theodor Körner Fund supports young scientists and artists with the Theodor Körner Sponsorship Award, which is endowed with 5,000 euros. It is awarded for outstanding projects, provides direct support to the winners and is at their free disposal. Two Theodor Körner Prizes go to graduates of the Mozarteum: musician Alexander Bauer and writer Anna-Maria Stadler. Congratulations!

The Salzburg AG Art Prize in the field of visual arts for students at the Mozarteum University Salzburg, worth EUR 10,000 and awarded for the first time, goes to Lukas Stangl (born 1992, Austria). From 22 to 28 June 2025, around 200 drama students from 18 universities in Germany, Austria and Switzerland will gather at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg for the national competition for German-speaking drama students. The event is being hosted by the Thomas Bernhard Institute – sending a clear message: ‘Get out of the bubble’.
The Tyrolean State Prize for Art, worth €14,000, goes to Johannes Maria Staud, a composer born in Innsbruck and professor of composition at the Mozarteum University. The jury unanimously agreed that Staud is one of Austria's most important contemporary composers. We send our warmest congratulations!

On 8 May, the Mozarteum University Salzburg held its fourth Inclusion and Diversity Day (INDI Day). INDI Day is a biennial event organised by the Working Group for Inclusion and Diversity in cooperation with the Department of Family, Gender, Disability & Diversity at Paris Lodron University Salzburg, the Stefan Zweig University of Education Salzburg and the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences on the premises of the Mozarteum University.
The Ö1 Composition Prize 2025, endowed with 10,000 euros, goes to the young composer Christiaan Willemse. He is studying composition in the postgraduate programme with Johannes Maria Staud at the Mozarteum University and impressed the jury with his personal and technically advanced works and compositional flair - congratulations!

On 2nd June 2025, the University Council of the Mozarteum University voted on the shortlist presented by the Senate and elected Univ.-Prof. Dr. Constanze Wimmer as the new Rector of the Mozarteum University Salzburg for the term 1st April 2026 – 31st March 2030.
A Year of Vibrant Musical Activity – Spotlight on the June 16 Concert in Vienna: The 2024/2025 academic year has been exceptionally dynamic for the guitar department at Mozarteum University Salzburg. Guitar students have taken part in a wide range of artistic and educational activities, reflecting the department’s vitality and high artistic standards. Dresden-born Christiane Büttig has been a university professor of choral and ensemble conducting at the Mozarteum University since fall 2024. As a conductor and choir director, Christiane Büttig brings international experience to Salzburg and aims to expand the choral scene with practice-oriented training in children's and youth choirs and to develop and establish a high-performance chamber choir. A conversation about formative experiences, choral work in all its facets and upcoming projects.
The multidisciplinary artist Maria Margarethe Drexel, Senior Artist in New Media at the Department of Fine Arts & Design at the Mozarteum University Innsbruck, is being honoured with the Paul Flora Prize 2025. The prize, endowed with 10,000 euros, is awarded annually alternately by the provinces of Tyrol and South Tyrol and honours outstanding artistic achievements and cross-border cultural cooperation.
The only voice teacher Cecilia Bartoli has ever had is her mother, the soprano Silvana Bartoli Bazzoni. We are delighted to announce that from 4 to 8 August 2025, professional singers of all voice types will have the unique opportunity to work personally with Silvana Bartoli Bazzoni on ‘fundamental principles of vocal technique - the basis of a long singing life’ in a masterclass as part of the International Summer Academy at Mozarteum University.
