Tina Geroldinger, a young Austrian composer, and Maurycy Hartman, clarinettist and founding member of the Ensemble for Contemporary Music, in conversation about the new ensemble, opportunities and possibilities for contemporary music in the current music world and about special moments that arise when people engage intensively with each other musically.

Three days of singing, dancing and making music: From 24 to 26 April, the new ORIGO festival celebrates folk music in its lively and constantly changing form at the Mozarteum University and in the city of Salzburg - and thus sees itself as a platform that not only preserves folk music, but also makes it possible to experience it in all its dynamism and creativity.

Mariia Tkachenko lived in Kyiv until March 2022, where she received singing and violin lessons as a child and has already appeared in several TV productions. Her acting studies at the I. K. Karpenko-Karyi Kyiv National University of Theatre, Cinema and Television were interrupted by the war in Ukraine.

Because at the national competition for German-speaking drama students, 19 drama schools from all over the German-speaking world will be presenting their theatre works at the Mozarteum University Salzburg.

Alumnus Rupert Pföß has been working as a music teacher at Musikum Salzburg since 1996 and has been head of the folk music and harmonica department since 2012. He is also an extended board member of the Salzburger Volksliedwerk. His busy seminar and jury activities at various music weeks and music competitions enrich his everyday life as a musician time and again. 

In October 2025, the new ‘Music Multis: Next Generation’ funding programme will start at the Mozarteum University. This programme, which is unique in Austria to date, prepares young talents specifically for music education studies.

Where art and design meet education: the Department of Fine Arts & Design at the Mozarteum University Salzburg offers students an inspiring environment in which artistic and design practice, theory and teaching are combined. On 18 and 19 March, the department opens its doors to all interested parties at the Open House.

In the renowned QS World University Ranking by Subject 2025, published today, the Mozarteum University was ranked 12th worldwide, 9th in Europe and 2nd among institutions in the German-speaking countries.

Anastasiia Larina receives scholarship from the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs (BMEIA). She comes from Kherson/Ukraine and has been studying the MA Applied Theater - Critical Theater Practice and Community at the Thomas Bernhard Institute of the Mozarteum University since 2023.
