Quang Nguyen wins first prize at the Vindobona Song Competition

We warmly congratulate the winners of the first Vindobona Song Competition at the Mozarteum University, which took place from 15 to 17 December 2025. In addition to Quang Nguyen, a student of Bernd Valentin and Pauliina Tukiainen, who received the first prize of €6,000, Miriam Bitschnau was awarded the second prize of €3,000 and Gabija Utaraitė and Alice Dreier shared the third prize of €1,500. The prize of €2,000 for the most convincing student piano performance went to Miquel Esquinas.

Miriam Bitschnau, Alice Dreier, Saskia Sophie Maas (who had to cancel at short notice due to illness), Quang Nguyen, Emily Jung, Emma Kindinger and Gabija Utaraitė all progressed to the public final.

The competition was open to all students currently enrolled in a bachelor's, master's or diploma programme at the Mozarteum University in the winter semester 2025/2026. The juryconsisted of Juliane Banse, Angelika Kirchschlager, Pauliina Tukiainen, Helmut Deutsch and Stephan Genz (chair). The prize money for the young artists was generously provided by the Vindobona Foundation.

Quang Nguyen and Miquel Esquinas impressed the audience and jury alike with the following programme:

  • Leonard Bernstein: Civet à toute vitesse
