Payam Yazdani, born 1994 in Hamburg, is currently performing at the Junges Schauspielhaus Hamburg zu sehen. In the 2025/26 season he will be a member of the company at the Schauspielhaus Bochum, but will continue to make guest appearances in productions at the Junges Schauspielhaus in Hamburg.
The reasoning of the jury, chaired by the actress Catrin Striebeck, was clear. They praised his work, recognising him as “a compelling performer who is both versatile and exciting; he approaches his characters and his audiences with clarity and a tangible attitude. His passion and genuine dedication to his roles are reflected in the authenticity of his performance.”
Yazdani is currently appearing in the production Krabat in the title role; other productions he is performing in at this time include Bambi: Eine Expedition in den Wald and Aus dem Nichts.
The prize is awarded in memory of Boy Gobert (1925 – 1986), one time artistic director of the Thalia Theatre. Previous winners include Ulrich Tukur, Martin Wuttke, Susanne Wolff, Hans Löw, Gala Othero Winter and Steffen Siegmund. The award ceremony will take place in a matinee at the Thalia Theatre on 7th December.
