The selection and awarding of grants will be made by a commission comprising representatives from various artistic disciplines, based on the criteria set out in the application guidelines. The Mozarteum University Salzburg will also support the ensembles by arranging concerts, providing infrastructure and offering mentoring/coaching, tailored to the individual ensemble and project.
Target group
- For ensemble groups consisting of at least 3 people [exception: piano duo (= 2 piano players) and song duo (= 1 singing voice & piano)], whereby 50% of the group must be either active students or former students who graduated from the Mozarteum University Salzburg less than 2 years ago. External persons may only supplement the groups. Unusual ensemble line-ups are also welcome (e.g. actors and musicians, etc.). The nationality of the applicants is irrelevant.
- Open to everyone, including ensembles that have already received a scholarship in 2024 or 2025.
Amount of the grant:
- €3,000 - €6,000 depending on the size of the ensemble and the project
- Paid in two instalments: 1st payment after selection decision, 2nd instalment after completion of the project within one calendar year
Application deadline: Monday, 13 March 2026, 22:00 (Closing of the registration form. Late registration, especially due to technical problems, is not possible!)
Requirements:
- Submission of the name of the ensemble
- Submission of the CVs of each ensemble member and the ensemble
- Submission of photos of each ensemble member and the ensemble
- Submission of the academic transcripts required for the application
- Submission of a concrete project concept including a schedule for a period of one (1) year
- Submission of a cost breakdown and financing plan for the project
- Submission of a video presentation (duration: 3-5 minutes YouTube video (or Vimeo, etc.) / content: presentation of the ensemble and project – creativity will be taken into account in the selection process)
- Mandatory participation in the ensemble presentation on Saturday, 9 May 2026 (Small Studio) – 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Mandatory attendance (including rehearsals) for each ensemble member (please note: if you do not attend, the entire ensemble will no longer be considered for the scholarship).
- Mandatory performance by selected ensembles as part of the International Society's cultural reception on Monday, 1 June 2026 (3:00-8:00 p.m.) at Leopoldskron Palace (Salzburg)
- Selection of one (1) contact person who acts on behalf of and in the best interests of the group (including financial management). Selection criteria for the contact person: the person must be an active student or former student of the Mozarteum University Salzburg who graduated less than two years ago.
- The ensemble agrees to play/work together for at least one (1) year and to do everything in its power to ensure the success of the project(s).
Criteria for selecting scholarship recipients:
- To what extent does the submitted project plan promote the artistic development and career of the respective ensemble and its scholarship recipients?
- The selection and awarding of scholarships will be made by a committee from various artistic disciplines according to the criteria set out in the application conditions.
- Incomplete applications will not be considered.
- There is no legal entitlement to the award of a scholarship. Applicants will be notified of the decision by email.
- The number of scholarships to be awarded depends on the funding available.
