Welcoming Masterclasses – Lisa Batiashvili & Claudio Martínez Mehner

Save the date: The Mozarteum University cordially invites you to meet Lisa Batiashvili (violin) and Claudio Martínez Mehner (piano) in person during a two-day masterclass. We are delighted to welcome these two outstanding musicians to the Mozarteum.

The masterclass marks the start of their professorships, which both will take up at our university in the winter semester 26/27. It offers a unique opportunity for artistic exchange and practical insights into their work.


Schedule and Application

The masterclasses, held from 10 to 13 February 2026, are open to students of Mozarteum University and to external participants alike.

The Violin Masterclass with Prof. Lisa Batiashvili will take place on 10 and 11 February, followed by the Piano Masterclass with Prof. Claudio Martínez Mehner on 12 and 13 February.

External participants who are admitted are required to pay a participation fee of €150 upon arrival, which includes two teaching units and an auditor’s pass.


Registration 

Registration is open from 9 January to 29 January 2026 via our website.

Applications must include two unedited video recordings of works in contrasting styles and a short curriculum vitae.

Participants will be selected based on the submitted materials. Due to limited capacity, not all applicants can be accepted.

Applicants will be informed of the outcome of their application between 2 and 6 February 2026.


Audience 

Auditors are warmly welcome. Admission is free, but seating is limited.

A triad of talent
Following a successful masterclass and a sold-out concert with the Bläserphilharmonie Mozarteum Salzburg in March 2025, Christian Thielemann will take up a position as Professor of Orchestral Conducting at the Mozarteum University in October 2026. Violinist Lisa Batiashvili and pianist Claudio Martínez Mehner will also begin teaching in the 2026/27 academic year.
