Paul Feigelfeld has been a university professor for digitality and cultural mediation at the Institute for Open Arts at the Mozarteum University since October. He researches transcultural approaches to the history of media and knowledge, critical perspectives on technologies and their interfaces with art and design.

Under the title "Staging Realities" Mozarteum University invites media artists and artist collectives to apply for a funded residency to create an interactive, multi-user XR performance in the newly built X-Reality-Lab. Fully operational in winter 2025, the Lab features cutting-edge projection-based XR technology and is supported by the open-source software framework mozXR developed in cooperation with the Ars Electronica Futurelab.

At the Department of Fine Arts & Design, students develop artistic and design positions on foundations in craft, design, art and material culture. The examination of image, object, space and media, theory and didactics prepares students for teaching in schools and extracurricular settings.

Kintsugi is a technique that gives broken ceramic objects a new chance.

Student project Stoffströme 16.6.2023 Stoffströme  Resources, waste and the afterlife of art: in the 2022/23 academic year, students in the sculpture class of the Visual Arts Education programme explored the broad topic of the relationship between nature and art. External curator Yorick Josua Berta provided content support for the resulting projects, which resulted in the exhibition ‘Material flows. Resources, Waste and the Afterlife of Art’ for the state gallery “Kunst im Traklhaus”. He expanded the works of our sculpture students with positions from Linz art students and renowned artists. Masks can be grotesque, sacred, mysterious, beautiful, terrifying, frightening and much more. They show and conceal at the same time. Masks have two sides. They oscillate between the inside and the outside - connecting and separating at the same time. They allow us to change roles, to role-play and are also a metaphor for our social role behaviour. Masks are an offer to change.

schnitt # stellen is an interdisciplinary project that incorporates perspectives from artistic research as well as cultural and media pedagogical research. The focus of interest is on interactions and potential synergies between the media cultural lifeworlds of young people attending an urban secondary school and the field of contemporary media art.
