
Carlos Goikoetxea has been a lecturer at the Mozarteum University since 2019, where he teaches historical performance practice and early music. He e taught fortepiano at the MUK Vienna from 2021 - 2022, and was appointed Professor of Fortepiano at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna in 2024. He has won numerous first prizes at competitions and has made recordings for CD, radio, television, film and documentaries.
Carlos Goikoetxea, born in Spain in 1991, gave his first solo recital and performed his first piano concerto with orchestra at the age of eleven. He gave his international debut the same year, appearing at the Steinway Festival in the Musikhalle Hamburg. Since then, he has performed throughout Europe. A versatile musician, he performs on the piano, fortepiano and harpsichord not only as a soloist, but also as a chamber musician, continuo player, Lied accompanist, orchestra and ensemble leader.
After completing his bachelor's degree in piano in Salamanca, Goikoetxea studied piano with Imre Rohmann, fortepiano and harpsichord with Wolfgang Brunner and historical performance practice with Reinhard Goebel at Mozarteum University Salzburg.
