Applications for ARCO - Art, Research and Creation Opus 2024 are now open! The French-Austrian Academy for Contemporary Composition, a cooperation between the Mozarteum University and the GMEM - Centre national de création musicale Marseille, will take place in Salzburg from 3 to 13 July 2024.

On December 14, 2022, Elisabeth Eder, a teacher and researcher at the Department of Music Education Salzburg, was awarded the state prize "Award of Excellence" for the 40 best dissertations in Austria in the Aula der Wissenschaften in Vienna.

Cristina Giurgea, alumna of the Master's programme in Applied Theatre at the Mozarteum University’s Thomas Bernhard Institute, has received a €12,000 grant – awarded annually by the State of Salzburg in the field of Performing Arts – to support her work at the intersection of research theatre and performance art in Salzburg. Establishing and developing the profile of an ensemble is one of the most demanding and, at the same time, most appealing challenges in artistic development. Many globally successful ensembles were formed during their studies, laying the foundation for an international chamber music career. However, existing study programmes alone can only provide limited incentives and framework conditions for this. The ensemble scholarship is the answer to this: convincing project proposals receive financial support for a period of one year to realise specific artistic projects.

From February 13 to 19, 25 pianists from 15 countries competed in the piano category of the International Mozart Competition at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg. Bogdan Dugalić won first prize, the audience prize, and the special prize of the International Society for Contemporary Music, while second prize went to Elisey Mysin and third prize to Anastasiia Kliuchereva.

For the working focus on Salzburg music history, Christoph Großpietsch and Linus Klumpner give a guided tour of the newly constructed premises of the Mozarteum building in Schwarzstraße, concluding with a short visit to the Magic Flute House.
