Applications for ARCO - Art, Research and Creation Opus 2024 are now open! The French-Austrian Academy for Contemporary Composition, a cooperation between the Mozarteum University and the GMEM - Centre national de création musicale Marseille, will take place in Salzburg from 3 to 13 July 2024.

ARCO - Art, Research & Creation Opus 2024 - is a binational university dedicated entirely to musical creation. It is a collaboration between the Mozarteum University Salzburg, the Gmem-Marseille (one of the French national centres for musical creation) and the French ensembles Multilatérale and Les Métaboles.

The fifth edition of ARCO will take place from 3 to 13 July 2024 at the Mozarteum University Salzburg. Twelve young composers from all over the world will take part, as well as two student string quartets, six singers and an assistant conductor.

Throughout the week, public lectures and concerts will take place at the Mozarteum University and in Salzburg. The pieces written by the students especially for this event will be rehearsed, performed and professionally recorded in two final concerts.

Who can take part?

  • Applications are open to composers, singers and string quartets

Apply now and get the chance: 

  • study with H. Fourès, E. Gutjahr, J.M. Staud, S. Nemtsov, E. Reiter, Y. Robin, C. Sebille and F. Filidei
  • for string quartets: to receive daily coaching from Antoine Maisonhaute
  • for singers: to be trained by Donatienne Michel-Dansac
  • to compose for the ensembles Les Métaboles, the Ensemble Multilatérale and the TANA Quartet
