There was a lot of discussion, ideas were developed and new networks were formed: the Spot On MozART Workshop Days 2022 took place on May 6 and 7 at the Zistelalm on the Gaisberg and were dedicated to the topics of innovation, visualization, research and the Spot On Moment based on Mozart's music. We were there for you and accompanied the participants.

It is with great regret that we announce the passing of Dr. Thomas Daniel Schlee, a former member of the University Council, on 10th November 2025. His unexpected death, at the age of 68, has left us deeply saddened. We extend our heartfelt sympathies to all those who were close to him.

The multidisciplinary artist Maria Margarethe Drexel, Senior Artist in New Media at the Department of Fine Arts & Design at the Mozarteum University Innsbruck, is being honoured with the Paul Flora Prize 2025. The prize, endowed with 10,000 euros, is awarded annually alternately by the provinces of Tyrol and South Tyrol and honours outstanding artistic achievements and cross-border cultural cooperation.

In the anniversary year "100 Years of the International Society for New Music (IGNM)", a diverse program reflects on its role as a major peace project after World War 1, on Salzburg's role as an international city in the interwar period, and on New Music's timeless claim to (re)learn how to listen.

Pleasure Space is a tactile installation and theatrical play on sexuality education. Anna Szepes' master project in MA Applied Theatre aims to create safe and playful performative spaces for intergenerational exchange and creative knowledge production around sexuality. In Pleasure Space we use research, interviews, play design, writing, somatic exercises and sound to realise a correspondence between adults and teenagers that is now open to you.

Under the title "Staging Realities" Mozarteum University invites media artists and artist collectives to apply for a funded residency to create an interactive, multi-user XR performance in the newly built X-Reality-Lab. Fully operational in winter 2025, the Lab features cutting-edge projection-based XR technology and is supported by the open-source software framework mozXR developed in cooperation with the Ars Electronica Futurelab.

Tracing the topicality of content and music: Under the leadership of the Forum Salzburger Volkskultur, a project was started to record the textual and musical variants of Silent Night! Holy Night!, which is jointly supervised by Wolfgang Dreier-Andres for the Salzburger Volksliedwerk and Thomas Hochradner of the Mozarteum University for the Silent Night Society.

Reference work and finding aid: On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Mozarteum University Archives, the doors were opened again and, among other things, the second volume of Ilse Tiebert's Historical Aspects was presented. The audience was pleased to see a comprehensive reference work on just about all relevant activities of the Mozarteum University in the context of the book presentation.

The heart of the Department for Brass, Wind & Percussion Studies is an internationally renowned faculty that includes renowned soloists and musicians from leading ensembles.

Interested young people still have until 21st September 2025 to register for the Musik-Multis: Next Generation support programme at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, which is unique in Austria. A few limited places are still available!
