Vivi Vassileva and Richard Putz win Prix Iannis Xenakis Our students Vivi Vassileva and Richard Putz are the winners of this year's Prix Iannis Xenakis. The prize, established by the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival in cooperation with the percussion class on the initiative of Martin Grubinger, promotes young percussion soloists and is intended to pave the way to the major concert halls and international music festivals. The participants had to conceive an extensive solo recital concert and present it in front of a 6-person jury.News -

Giacomo Puccini: Suor Angelica & Gianni Schicchi Two one-act operas by Giacomo Puccini, based on libretti by Giovacchino Forzano – one tragic, the other comic – hold up a mirror to society through the lens of art. Together, they offer a multifaceted exploration of the interplay between social structures and individual choices. In their production of Puccini’s Suor Angelica and Gianni Schicchi, both premiered in New York in 1918, Florentine Klepper and Kai Röhrig’s opera class invited the audience to engage in a thought experiment: How does a society react when its values, norms, and boundaries are put to the test?News -

Research award for Judith Rubatscher Judith Rubatscher, graduate of music education at the Mozarteum Innsbruck, was awarded a research prize by the Kanda Center of the University of Innsbruck for her ethnomusicological thesis "'Singen is a part vo unsam leben.' Die aktuelle Gesangspraxis der Schmiedeleut-I-Hutterer in Manitoba" (Supervisor: Ao. Univ.-Prof. Dr. Thomas Nußbaumer). Rubatscher dealt with the musical tradition of the Hutterites, a Tyrolean Anabaptist community from the 16th century, which today is only represented in North America.News -
