The harpist Isla Biffin, a Master's student at the Mozarteum University, has been awarded the 2024/25 annual scholarship from the Fondation Armand & Nicky Delvaux under the patronage of the Fondation de Luxembourg for her outstanding academic achievements. In 2020, the author Helena Adler's second novel Die Infantin trägt den Scheitel links was published by Jung und Jung. The book landed at number five on the ORF bestseller list in April 2020; she opened the O-Töne literature festival in 2020 with a reading from the book. In August 2020, the novel was longlisted for the German Book Prize. At the end of August 2022, her third book was published: Fretten, which was nominated for the Austrian Book Prize 2022.

Although cultural life in various Nazi-occupied countries manifested distinctive differences in outlook between 1939 and 1945, partially accountable to specific national traditions and their historical and ideological relationship to German music and the political situation, one factor that appears to bind all musical activity in these areas is the consistent presence of the music of Ludwig van Beethoven.

The Mozarteum University congratulates its alumna Alexandra Karastoyanova-Hermentin on receiving the Grand Art Prize of the State of Salzburg 2024! With this award, which is being presented to a female composer for the first time this year, the State of Salzburg is sending a strong signal in favour of the importance and creativity of women in music. The Grand Art Prize is endowed with 20,000 euros and is awarded annually alternately in the fields of visual arts, literature, music and performing arts.

Establishing a similarity between the harmonic sequences in W. A. Guitar students have taken part in a wide range of artistic and educational activities, reflecting the department’s vitality and high artistic standards. Among the most notable events is the upcoming concert on June 16, 2025, at the Italian Cultural Institute in Vienna, titled: “Vienna and Italy in Dialogue: The Guitar as a Bridge Between Two Traditions.”

In order to ensure that Austria maintains its position in the world of art and culture, selected outstanding graduates of arts universities are supported in the early stages of their artistic careers. To this end, the public arts universities, in cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research, have launched the A4 – Austrian Art Alumni Award programme: each year, six graduates of Austrian arts universities are awarded a grant in recognition of their outstanding academic achievements.

At the Department of Fine Arts & Design, students develop artistic and design positions on foundations in craft, design, art and material culture. The examination of image, object, space and media, theory and didactics prepares students for teaching in schools and extracurricular settings.

Building on the experience of the two previous funding periods, in which most partner organisations were already involved, transfer formats in the STEAM area are being developed for the target groups of employees at the knowledge and technology transfer interfaces, researchers, students, graduates and stakeholders in the (creative) economy. The aim here is to build bridges between STEM disciplines and the artistic-creative sector.

On Thursday, June 23, 2022, the award ceremony of the design competition for the first Segafredo "At Home" cup collection took place at the Segafredo Zanetti roasting plant in Hallwang. Participants as well as jury members of the competition were guests.
