The inter-university institution Science and Art of the Paris-Lodron University and the Mozarteum University Salzburg, which has existed since 2002, is dedicated to the multifaceted relationship between science and the arts of all disciplines in research, teaching and communication. Matthias Bartolomey has been professor of concert violoncello at the Mozarteum University since October - and he has a lot planned for the future, starting with a course on progressive playing techniques in addition to repertoire teaching, which combines his diverse chamber music and soloist experience with new, intuitive improvisational approaches.

Continuation of Opera out of Opera: Don Giovanni in Rome, Così fan tutte in Porto, Le nozze di Figaro in Stockholm and La Bohème in Oslo and Salzburg. What began in 2018 under the project title Opera out of Opera will be continued across Europe from 2023 to 2025. Co-funded by the European Commission's Creative Europe program, Opera out of Opera II builds on the results of the first project period - with the aim of developing innovative opera formats for new target groups.

The Slovenian-Austrian violinist Igor Ozim taught at the Mozarteum University from 2002 to 2016. He died in Salzburg on 23 March 2024.

On 8 May 2025, we will commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. Today more than ever, it is imperative that we keep alive the memory of what happened 80 years ago and strive to preserve peace and democracy. The Mozarteum University will be holding a series of (commemorative) events throughout the year of remembrance, which will look back at the beginnings of the Second Republic and explore how this period still shapes events today.

The theory and method handbook "Music and Migration", which was published in July, is dedicated to the manifold aspects, phenomena, interactions and perspectives in the research field between music and migration in 16 thematic complexes.

Dresden-born Christiane Büttig has been a university professor of choral and ensemble conducting at the Mozarteum University since fall 2024. As a conductor and choir director, Christiane Büttig brings international experience to Salzburg and aims to expand the choral scene with practice-oriented training in children's and youth choirs and to develop and establish a high-performance chamber choir. A conversation about formative experiences, choral work in all its facets and upcoming projects.

The 13th International Mozart Competition of the University Mozarteum Salzburg came to an end with the final concert of the vocal section on February 15 in the Great Hall of the Mozarteum Foundation. The 1st prize of 15,000 euros, donated by the International Salzburg Association, went to the soprano Anna ElKhashem.
