From April 30, "The Book of Musicals" can be seen in 12 performances at the Treibhaus Innsbruck. Predicate: worth seeing! Department of Music Education Innsbruck "The Book of Musicals" is a unique musical production of the Department of Music Education Innsbruck, which originated from the own initiative of the students Evi Hasler, Sofie Pedevilla, Maria Sagmeister and Isabella Stricker. The reason for the realization of the project was the desire to unite all students of the Department of Music Pedagogy and to create a practical and professional opportunity to gain experience in project work and project planning that will prepare them for their later professional life. Over 50 contributors, including active stage artists and renowned faculty of the department, collaborated for the production. All musical arrangements, dances, and various aspects of vocal training were developed in classes over two semesters. The project is not part of the curriculum and is thus based solely on the commitment of students and faculty. Only through successful cooperation could this heartfelt project be realized. Visitors can expect a story full of magic, individual developments and a touch of romance. A new research project at the Department of Music Education Innsbruck deals with virtual rehearsals and music making in digital and virtual space, which require communication in real time. The project investigates the use of digital tools in the cultural field, especially to support choirs.

Singing brings people together – even online. In the ERASMUS+ research project ‘Choir@Home’, the Mozarteum University Salzburg (Prof. Dr. Heike Henning), in collaboration with the University of Liechtenstein (Dr. Janine Hacker) and Anhalt University of Applied Sciences (Prof. Dr. Alexander Carôt), investigated how singing together can take place in virtual spaces and be reimagined.

Establishing and developing the profile of an ensemble is one of the most demanding and, at the same time, most appealing challenges in artistic development. Many globally successful ensembles were formed during their studies, laying the foundation for an international chamber music career. However, existing study programmes alone can only provide limited incentives and framework conditions for this. The ensemble scholarship is the answer to this: convincing project proposals receive financial support for a period of one year to realise specific artistic projects.

Singer-songwriter/band competition organised by Austria’s nine universities and colleges of music: While Europe’s attention is focused on the Eurovision Song Contest, Austria’s universities and colleges of music are turning their attention to the up-and-coming artists who will shape the music of tomorrow: On 15 May 2026, the campus of the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna will become the stage for the most promising up-and-coming acts on the Austrian popular music scene. Representing the Mozarteum University will be Daniel Wisiol and the Mozquitos.

The commissioning of a "European Symphony" marks the start of a wide-ranging research project that combines digital technology and classical music in a new way: Musicians in 12 different locations will use innovative technology to overcome physical distances and perform a joint concert for symphony orchestra and large chorus. The Mozarteum University is also contributing to the project, in the form of a choir.

Making music together remotely—in real time, across an entire continent: this exciting EU-funded initiative to create a “European Symphony” aims to bring digital technology and classical music together in new ways. Musicians in 12 different locations will use innovative technology to overcome physical distances and perform a joint concert for symphony orchestra and large chorus. Compositions can be submitted until 31 July 2026. The Mozarteum University is also taking part.
