New University Council of the Mozarteum University Salzburg The University Council of the Mozarteum University for the functional period 2023 to 2028 is now complete. Thomas Rietschel, M.A. and Sarah Wedl-Wilson, MA (Cantab) were elected by the Senate of the Mozarteum University. The Federal Ministry of Science and Research appointed Mag.a Silvia Grünberger and Univ.-Prof.in Mag.a Dr.in Rosa Reitsamer to the board. The four nominated members elected Em. o. Univ.-Prof. Mag. Dr. Karlheinz Töchterle as the fifth member, who was also elected chairman of the collegial body in May. Rosa Reitsamer was elected as vice-chairman.News -

A shower of prizes for the final year drama class for Jelinek's ‘The Silent Girl’ At the national competition for German-speaking drama students in Frankfurt, the final year of the Thomas Bernhard Institute at the Mozarteum University won several prizes for its production of Elfriede Jelinek's "The Silent Girl". In addition to the Swiss Ensemble Prize and the Audience Prize/Students' Prize, we are delighted to have won two solo prizes for Payam Yazdani and Joyce Mayne Sanhá.News -

Honorary doctorates for Dame Janet Ritterman and Michael Worton On 8 November 2025, at the closing dinner of the AEC Conference in the Carabinierisaal of the Residenz Salzburg – a gathering that brought together delegates from more than 120 music universities across Europe and beyond – the Mozarteum University awarded honorary doctorates to Dame Janet Ritterman and Professor Michael Worton. This marks only the second time in the university’s history that this distinction has been conferred: after Nikolaus Harnoncourt received the first honorary doctorate in 2008, it has now been bestowed on two individuals who have played a decisive role in shaping the Mozarteum’s research profile.News -
