Armin Langer

Following his retirement as Professor of Music Education at Mozarteum University (Innsbruck campus) in 2021, Armin Langer continues to support doctoral researchers in music education through individual mentoring and research colloquia. During his academic career, he served as Head of the Mozarteum's Department of Music Education in Innsbruck from 2004 to 2011 and made a significant contribution to the development of music education research in Austria.

Armin Langer completed his teacher training at Goethe University Frankfurt, where he also gained his doctorate in Music Education. After teaching in schools and later serving as principal and head of music education at a teacher training college in Frankfurt, he was appointed Professor of Music Education at Mozarteum University Salzburg in 2000. Alongside his university teaching, he lectured at Goethe University Frankfurt during the 1990s.

He was a founding member of the Austrian Music Education Research initiative (MFÖ) in 2003 and served as deputy spokesperson for the Forum for European Music Education (FEMP) from 2009 to 2014.
