Competence in sustainability is competence for the future. Artists and educators carry a great responsibility but also have great potential for not only reflecting on social change but also contributing to it. The start of academic year 2025/2026 brings with it the start of a new elective studies block in Art & Sustainability, for which students can obtain a supplementary certificate. It offers the chance to explore the complex relationship between sustainable developments in our university and society at large, and artistic and scholarly practice.

Co-CreART is a four-year project of the Mozarteum University Salzburg, which is funded by the Climate and Energy Fund and was honoured with the Sustainability Award in Gold in November 2024.
The combination of artistic-creative and scientific-technical approaches is at the centre of the inter- and transdisciplinary project "Co-CreART. Co-Creating Change" project. Together with children and young people, the CreART Lab will be developed over the next few years, a mobile educational space with various opportunities to engage with innovative ideas and possible solutions on the topics of sustainable building and living as well as climate-friendly mobility. As one of 12 projects out of 182 submissions, "Co-CreART. Co-Creating Change" came out on top in the "Learning" category.
Together with children and young people, the inter- and transdisciplinary CreART Lab is being developed in collaboration with partners from the fields of art & culture, science & technology, education & outreach, and in cooperation with regional companies and networks. A mobile experimental space that, in the spirit of the guiding principle "Co-Creating Change!", is intended to inspire, motivate and support children and young people to (co-)create change.
