The Senate of the Mozarteum University joins the protests against a closure of the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra with all vehemence. The RSO Vienna forms an indispensable building block of the Austrian cultural scene and functions especially and above all in the field of new music as an important commissioner and premiere performer.

The only voice teacher Cecilia Bartoli has ever had is her mother, the soprano Silvana Bartoli Bazzoni. From 3 to 8 August 2026, the Mozarteum International Summer Academy will once again offer young professionals a unique opportunity to work personally with Silvana Bazzoni Bartoli.

Anna Barbara Kastelewicz, a graduate of the Department of Musicology at the Mozarteum University, was recently honoured with the Award of Excellence for her dissertation on "Music, culture and cultural activities in the special camps of the Soviet occupying power 1945 - 1950 in the Soviet Occupation Zone and the GDR". The four-year term of office for the new Rectorate of the Mozarteum University Salzburg begins on 1 April 2026. Music educator Constanze Wimmer will lead the institution. Together with her team – Hannfried Lucke, Karin Skarek, Helmut Schaumberger and Eugen Banauch – she aims to provide key impetus for the further development of the arts, teaching and research. It is with great sorrow that the Mozarteum University announces the passing of its former rector, Univ.-Prof. Reinhart von Gutzeit, who died on 11th July 2025 in Lucerne after a long illness, surrounded by his family.

The weekend around 1 May at the University was marked by an extraordinary musical bridge-building between Salzburg and Dresden: with a cappella singing and choral symphonies, "night" and "sea", word and sound, the Dresden University Choir and the choirs of the Mozarteum University combined to create a multi-layered, dazzling spectrum of sound.
