Deadlines for proof - Explanation *At the time of admission: Proof of required language skills must be provided at the time of enrolment at the latest. If valid proof (see overview below) is already available at the time of the application, it can be uploaded in the application form. It is also possible to hand it in later until the time of enrolment.If no corresponding original proof is provided by the end of the enrolment period, an enrolment for the degree programme is not possible. **Until the end of the 2nd semester: The required language skills can be proven by presenting a certificate (see overview below) or by means of a positively completed German language course at the Mozarteum University Salzburg.The proof must be provided by the end of the 2nd semester at the latest and must be submitted in the original, otherwise it is not possible to continue the studies. Glossaries for music terminology: Basic vocabulary Advanced vocabulary Specialist vocabulary General course rules The following rules apply to the German courses: You are allowed to miss a maximum of 6 sessions during the semester (A2 in the summer semester 8 sessions), but are obliged to catch up on the content you missed by yourself. If you are absent more than 6 times, you will receive a fail grade for the course (and thus no ECTS points). If you arrive later than 15 minutes after class begins or leave earlier than 15 minutes before class ends, you will be considered to have missed the entire class. To continue a course in the next semester, the following rule applies: You must have passed the previous course, or your must pass the placement test in the first session. Why learn German? It is important that you learn German if you study at the Mozarteum University, even if your studies do not require the course. "The Soldier's Tale" and "Renard" were written in Igor Stravinsky's Swiss exile during World War I, in close collaboration with the poet Charles Ferdinand Ramuz. Drama production ¡Los Bernarrrdá's! 14.4.2022 ¡Los Bernarrrdá's!  Based on "Bernarda Alba's House," Federico García Lorca's drama that has been performed most frequently around the world to this day, the 4th year Drama and Directing class, under the direction of Anja Herden, will deal in "¡Los Bernarrrdá's!" with being trapped, hysteria, fear of life, and the longing for freedom as a primal human drive, and will tell of people who are both victims and accomplices of their own oppression. At the Federal Competition of German-Speaking Acting Students 2022, held in Ludwigsburg from June 19 to 25, 2022, the 4th year acting class was able to bring an ensemble prize back to Salzburg for the production ¡Los Bernarrrdá's!.

Inspired by the polyartist Bob Dylan and his approaches of appropriation and transformation, nine artistic-explorative teams of two from the Mozarteum University were on the road in South Africa, the US, Mexico, Europe and Latin America during the first half of 2022. The results are nine art projects that will be premiered on October 14 and 15 as part of Jazz & The City, accompanied by a symposium "Inspired by ... commemorating 60 Years of Bob Dylan.".

More than 330 years after the premiere of the only complete opera by Henry Purcell, the French composer Henry Fourès composes a musical setting for Dido and Aeneas and calls it Elissa. A conversation with Rector Elisabeth Gutjahr, who wrote the libretto for it.

In the doctoral programme of the inter-university institution Wissenschaft & Kunst (W&K), doctoral students research and work closely networked at the interface of science and art.

Oscar Jockel is currently Kirill Petrenko's conducting assistant with the Berlin Philharmonic and a conducting fellow of the Karajan Academy for two years. He has been appointed the first Composer in Residence of the Brucknerhaus Linz for the 2020/21 season. Previous commissions range from works for solo instruments to sound installations and orchestral works, the latter for the Bruckner Orchestra Linz or the Camerata Salzburg, for example.

Intensive one-week master classes with 53 renowned, top-class artists and teachers from the Mozarteum University and the international music industry, numerous public concerts and a colorful supporting program: from July 17 to August 12, the International Summer Academy will once again open its doors. It has evolved visually, but above all in terms of content.

200 singers and musicians proved on July 2, 2023 that Dresden is located by the sea: The University Choir of Dresden, the Mozarteum UniChoir and the Staatskapelle Dresden let mighty waves of sound roll over the heads of 500 enthusiastic concertgoers with a brilliant program on the theme of "Beauty and Horror of the Sea" in the Kreuzkirche.

On July 16, this year's edition of the top-class French-Austrian Academy of Composition came to a successful close in Marseille with four concerts. For the first time, the prize winners of the International Mozart Competition were invited to Marseille and performed in the concerts.

After four intensive weeks with 520 participants from 51 nations, 51 master classes and 16 additional courses with a focus on musicians' health as well as around 60 public events, the International Summer Academy 2023 came to an end last week with much positive feedback. Twelve young artists were also awarded prizes of 1,000 euros each, sponsored by the Cultural Fund of the City of Salzburg.

Numerous master classes, a contemporary BaroqueLab, concerts and an opera production: The Baroque Summer Academy of the Department of Early Music of the Mozarteum University will take place for the third time in 2023 within the framework of the renowned Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, Italy. A highlight in 2023 is the performance of the baroque opera "Dido & Aeneas" by H. Purcell with contemporary prologue and epilogue "Elissa" by Henry Fourès and Rector Elisabeth Gutjahr. "Elissa" was successfully premiered at the Mozarteum University in June 2023.

After the successful first edition of "With Dylan on the Road", a competitive travel scholarship program of the Mozarteum University, the project inspired by the polyartist Bob Dylan is entering the next round.
