This winter semester, directing students at the Thomas Bernhard Institute are working together with acting students from three different years and in cooperation with scenography students to develop productions based on an examination of theatre texts from antiquity.

In the "GOODGOODS - from experiment to mass production" project, students developed a product together with detailed instructions that show the production process broken down into individual steps and can therefore be mass produced - even by someone else.

On January 20 and 21, the Thomas Bernhard Institute, in cooperation with the Department of Scenography of the Mozarteum University, presented Philoktet by Heiner Müller, Gaia in a version by Till Ernecke and The Bacchae by Euripides, three directorial works on the theme of classical music at the Theater im KunstQuartier.

Every year, the Mozarteum University honours students majoring in violin who have shown particular talent and achievement with the Paul Roczek Award, which is endowed with 10,000 euros. The winner of the Paul Roczek Award 2023 is Andreas Siles-Mellinger.

Judith Valerie Engel is an Austrian pianist, musicologist & feminist. After years of study in Salzburg, Helsinki and Vancouver, she is currently completing a PhD in Historical Musicology at Oxford University. She is a recipient of the Stone-Mallabar Doctoral Scholarship awarded by Oxford College Christ Church. She is also one of the ‘Public Scholars’ in the Public Scholars Initiative of the University of British Columbia. Both academically and artistically, her focus is on historical and contemporary women composers.

Elisabeth de Roo studied song and oratorio at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg and property and facility management at the University of Applied Sciences in Kufstein. With her play "Kein leichtes Mädchen. Käuflicher Liederabend", she addresses a sensitive topic and tries to encourage people to discuss it. 

schnitt # stellen is an interdisciplinary project that incorporates perspectives from artistic research as well as cultural and media pedagogical research. The focus of interest is on interactions and potential synergies between the media cultural lifeworlds of young people attending an urban secondary school and the field of contemporary media art.
