After a break due to corona, the Department of Fine Arts and Design is finally opening its workshops and studios again: from April 6 to 8, interested parties will have the opportunity to gain insights into the diverse work of young artists and to try their hand at numerous workshops. Concerts and performances round off the program. The Tour 2022 will be accompanied by a charity art sale for Ukraine.

Federal Minister for Education, Science and Research Ao. Univ.-Prof. Dr. Martin Polaschek was a guest at the Mozarteum University on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 and congratulated students on their various engagements at the Salzburg Festival. In a conversation lasting just under an hour, the students told how their engagements came about and why the Salzburg Festival can be an important stage for the future.

The Concorso Ruggiero Ricci for violin and the Concorso Hindemith / Mainardi for viola and cello are held in annual rotation. The internal competitions are aimed at students of the Department of String & Plucked Instruments.

At the Department of Scenography, interdisciplinary education in the fields of literature, theatre, music, cultural and art history, architecture, stage, space, costume, film, exhibition design and photography form the basis for the artistic and technical examination of the scene, the body and the object in space.

At the start of the 2026/27 winter semester, Mozarteum University welcomes nine internationally renowned artists and academics to its faculty. The new appointees bring expertise in a range of disciplines, from violin and piano to orchestral conducting and music theory, as well as the teaching of design & technology.

Continuation of Opera out of Opera: Don Giovanni in Rome, Così fan tutte in Porto, Le nozze di Figaro in Stockholm and La Bohème in Oslo and Salzburg. What began in 2018 under the project title Opera out of Opera will be continued across Europe from 2023 to 2025. The Ö1 Talent Scholarship for Visual Arts, worth €10,000, is provided by Wiener Städtischer Versicherungsverein. The award is intended to support emerging talent among students at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, the University of Applied Arts Vienna, the University of Art and Design Linz, the Mozarteum University Salzburg and the University of Art and Design Graz.
