With the Moz-Art-Zone, the Mozarteum University will offer an expanded music and art education program starting in the winter semester of 2022/23 with an interdisciplinary offering that aims to awaken enthusiasm and interest in students and opens the doors of the university wide for this purpose.

On 2nd June 2025, the University Council of the Mozarteum University voted on the shortlist presented by the Senate and elected Univ.-Prof. Dr. Constanze Wimmer as the new Rector of the Mozarteum University Salzburg for the term 1st April 2026 – 31st March 2030.

Who owns the streets? Which streets and places do we need in Salzburg? And how can we get Salzburg moving in a playful way?

Together with the University of Salzburg and the Students’ Unions of both universities, Mozarteum University Salzburg sent a strong message yesterday against the planned budget cuts at universities. Berlin composer Frank Schwemmer was "very satisfied" after the world premiere of his new piece "mein Wort mein Glück mein Weinen" on 9 March 2024 in the Great Hall of the Mozarteum Foundation.

Two projects from Mozarteum University Salzburg have been included in the “Atlas of Good Teaching”, a nationwide platform showcasing innovative teaching initiatives at Austrian universities. The Pre-College ensemble project Bella Musica and the university teaching initiative LAUT:SPRECHER demonstrate how artistic excellence, academic reflection and social responsibility can be combined in higher education in the arts. Both projects provide inspiring examples of participatory, future-oriented teaching practice.

The Moz-Art-Zone is the University Mozarteum's outreach program for children and young people, offering a broad spectrum of events in all areas of art - excitingly conceived programs are designed to inspire and excite in the long term, but also to promote exchange between students and young artists.

At the Department of Scenography, interdisciplinary education in the fields of literature, theatre, music, cultural and art history, architecture, stage, space, costume, film, exhibition design and photography form the basis for the artistic and technical examination of the scene, the body and the object in space.
