    Vivi Vassileva and Richard Putz win Prix Iannis Xenakis 
    Our students Vivi Vassileva and Richard Putz are the winners of this year's Prix Iannis Xenakis. The prize, established by the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival in cooperation with the percussion class on the initiative of Martin Grubinger, promotes young percussion soloists and is intended to pave the way to the major concert halls and international music festivals. The participants had to conceive an extensive solo recital concert and present it in front of a 6-person jury.

    Julia Soost and Veit Vergara win animated film competition of the Konzerthaus Munich 
    At the Department of Scenography, under the direction of the filmmaker and video artist Alexander du Prel, numerous animated films have been created at the Mozarteum University. The special feature: classical animation techniques are combined with digital recording techniques, the individual images are drawn individually on paper in analog form and then digitally stitched together, so that the films retain the charm of traditional animation. There is no other university or college in the German-speaking world that still works with this technique.

    Maxim Vengerov holds the 1st endowed professorship 
    The management of the Mozarteum University has succeeded in acquiring an endowed professorship for the first time. This is an entirely externally financed university professorship in violin awarded to an internationally outstanding artistic personality. Maxim Vengerov, one of the world's most celebrated violinists, is coming to Salzburg to work at the Mozarteum University for three years from the beginning of the winter semester 2019/20. The public is invited to experience his masterclasses on October 14, 2019 in the Solitär and on December 9, 2019 in the Great Hall of the Mozarteum Foundation.

    After the Senate and the University Council of the University Mozarteum Salzburg announced the re-election of Rector Prof.in Elisabeth Gutjahr in February 2021, her team was also re-elected in May 2021. Hannfried Lucke (Vice Rector for Arts), Mario Kostal (Vice Rector for Teaching) and Anastasia Weinberger (Vice Rector for Resources) will continue to steer the fortunes of the University alongside Elisabeth Gutjahr.

    Sarah Nemtsov receives the Heidelberger Künstlerinnenpreis 2025 
    Sarah Nemtsov, renowned composer and university professor of composition at the Mozarteum University, will receive the Heidelberger Künstlerinnenpreis 2025 for her outstanding contributions to contemporary music. The prize, which has been endowed with 10,000 euros since 2025, is one of the most important cultural prizes in Germany and is the only prize in the world to be awarded exclusively to female composers.

    "Nexus Textile and Sound" - Gertrud Fischbacher and Marius Schebella Successful in FWF PEEK Program 
    Gertrud Fischbacher and her cooperation partner Marius Schebella (FH Salzburg) were awarded with the project "Nexus of Textile and Sound" at the annual funding program of the FWF for the development and opening up of the arts (PEEK)! They won the Research Competition Mozarteum (RCM) at the end of 2019, the PEEK application, which is based on intensive local cooperation with the FH Salzburg, is a further development of the RCM project.
