On September 28, 2022, the City and Province of Salzburg, ORF Landesstudio Salzburg and Progress Werbung once again awarded prizes for the best cultural posters of the past year at the traditional Kulturplakatpreis ceremony. The Department of Fine Arts & Design of the Mozarteum University won 2nd place with its poster for the Tour 2022 "Jellybubble", which was endowed with 3000 euros. The poster was designed by Gerhard Andraschko-Sorgo, lecturer for visual design at the Mozarteum University and managing director of the design studio Linie3.
The department has two reasons to be happy. This year, Progress-Werbung Salzburg announced a trophy competition in which two designs by students of the Department of Fine Arts and Design at the Mozarteum University were selected. The trophy design "More than Paper" by Mario Plattner (Innsbruck location) was selected for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Culture Poster Award as well as for the best series and Clara Elixmann's design from Salzburg was selected as a trophy for the special format of the Culture Poster Award.
Twenty violinists from 17 countries gathered at the International Mozart Competition in the violin category from February 6 to 12 at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg. First prize went to Xunyue Zhang, second prize to Yuki Serino, and third prize to Maxim Tzekov.
From October 2026, students at Mozarteum University Salzburg will have the opportunity to gain in-depth insight into orchestral conducting. Christian Thielemann, together with his assistants Martin Fuchsberger and Jobst Schneiderat, will assume responsibility for the artistic training of a select group of aspiring orchestral conductors. Registration for the audition is open until 28 February 2026.
The Applied Theatre students are showing try-outs of their work in the module "On Representation - Who cares, who speaks?". Together with co-researchers, accomplices and so-called experts of everyday life, they try to find out which untold stories should be given a stage.
Applications for the October 2026 intake will be accepted starting in February. The Mozarteum University Salzburg is expanding its range of courses to include the international Master's programme in Immersive Arts & Digital Narratives. The English-language, artistically and scientifically oriented programme will start in 2026 and is aimed at artists and practitioners from all artistic and scientific disciplines who wish to explore narrative forms, artistic practice and new technologies.
