Judith Valerie Engel is an Austrian pianist, musicologist & feminist. After years of study in Salzburg, Helsinki and Vancouver, she is currently completing a PhD in Historical Musicology at Oxford University. She is a recipient of the Stone-Mallabar Doctoral Scholarship awarded by Oxford College Christ Church. She is also one of the ‘Public Scholars’ in the Public Scholars Initiative of the University of British Columbia. Both academically and artistically, her focus is on historical and contemporary women composers.

The training at the Department of Voice is tailored to the needs of singers in the 21st century who can take on roles with demanding physical requirements and are also masters at working with colleagues, directors and conductors from around the world.

The Department of Music Education Innsbruck is the central training center for music teachers in Western Austria. The focus on music education, a very personal support and the home in the House of Music in the center of Innsbruck make the department an interface of scientific expertise and didactic know-how.

In the internationally oriented Pre-College, talented young people are given the best possible support at an early stage and receive comprehensive preparation for music studies as well as for a later artistic career. Every year, the Mozarteum University welcomes around 1,000 young musicians from all over the world to the festival city of Salzburg and offers more than 80 master classes in composition, conducting, voice, piano, guitar and classical orchestral instruments, as well as an orchestra academy with outstanding teachers.

At the Mozarteum University, artistic encounters and challenges are combined with art education and art university research. Highly talented students from all over the world dedicate themselves to developing and opening up the arts together with renowned teachers at the Salzburg and Innsbruck campuses.
