X Human Minutes How long is one minute? Is it a fleeting instant or an eternity? Time, as simple as it seems, is perceived differently by each of us. For some, a minute drags endlessly at a bus stop; for others, it disappears in the thrill of breaking a world record.Event -

AEC annual conference: new ideas on the future of music education No News. From 5 to 8 November 2025, the Mozarteum University Salzburg will host the annual congress of the Association Européenne des Conservatoires et Musikhochschulen (AEC) for the first time. This year's conference on the topic "The Sound of Future Music Education" will offer renowned experts and music institutions a platform to reflect on the future direction of music education with around 450 participants. Contactiris.wagner@moz.ac.at The central themes of the conference include: How can the role of teachers and institutions in music education be shaped in such a way that leadership – i.e. guidance, responsibility and participation – becomes effective? What innovative methods and technologies help to combine traditional training methods with future-oriented educational formats ("Educating Professionals between Tradition and Innovation")? How can issues such as wellbeing, health and sustainable training concepts ("Healthy Musician in a Sustainable World") be more firmly anchored in musicians' training? What role do digital education and artificial intelligence play in the context of music education – and how does this change the relationship between learners, teachers and the reality of the music world? What does music education look like in a global context: What impetus is provided by international cooperation, transnationality or networks for education, research and advocacy? ("Leadership and Advocacy in a Global World") The conference programme includes keynotes, workshops, brainstorming and networking formats, as well as live concerts and meetings with representatives from all over Europe – from universities and music schools to student organisations and funding institutions. On 7 November at 4.30 p.m., Karoline Edtstadler, Governer of Salzburg, and Rector Elisabeth Gutjahr will discuss education and training in Europe, as well as global and national interests. Speakers at the conference include: Prof Dr André Lee (Germany) - Director and Professor at the Institute for Music Physiology and Musicians’ Medicine at the Hannover University of Music, Drama and Media (IMMM) Dr Cliódhna O'Connor (Ireland) - Athletic Performance Coach | Coach Developer Stella Mendonça (Mozambique) - Director MUSIARTE Rosemary Kate Martin (New Zealand), Dean Faculty for Education, Arts and Culture at Nord University Details of the programme can be found HERE.News -

Platform on Politics of the Past About us … Home About us Platform on Politics of the Past Platform on Politics of the Past Skip page navigation Overview Return to slider start The Platform on Politics of the Past is a forum for discussing questions relating to the historical political positioning and decisions of the Mozarteum University. The critical assessment of these issues may take the form of scholarly review (e.g. of biographies) but can equally be expressed through artistic projects that raise public awareness in the spirit of “Never Forget.” The Platform was founded in response to an artistic intervention by students of the Thomas Bernhard Institute in April 2024, in which a number of names on the Honorary Members board in the foyer of the Mozarteum University were crossed out with red paint and a petition was lodged calling for their honours to be revoked. Contactgeschichtspolitiken@moz.ac.at Statement from the Rectorate & Senate In the years between 1960 and 1980, certain honours were awarded by the Mozarteum University Salzburg which, in hindsight, are highly problematic. These relate to people whose possible involvement in Austrian Fascism or Nazi (cultural) politics was not critically examined. To honour someone with an award is also to create a contemporary document. Such awards always reflect the positions, politics and networks of those who bestow them. Through neglecting to critically question the honours that were awarded between the 1960s and 1980s until very recently, the Mozarteum University Salzburg failed to actively combat the forgetting and suppression of historical events. The position of the senate and rectorate is that the past behaviour of the university and its office-holders, which cannot be considered in isolation from the honours which were awarded to problematic individuals, should be researched, dealt with and explained. In this way, the Mozarteum University Salzburg has chosen to acknowledge and account for its past. At the same time, the Mozarteum University Salzburg is keen to avoid focusing on the perpetrators. Instead, the university has initiated and advanced a comprehensive process of accountability and acknowledgement of the victims of tyranny and those harmed by the organs and members of the Mozarteum. 13th January 2025 News Mozarteum stories – dialogue with the past 23.9.2025 Mozarteum stories – dialogue with the past The Platform on Politics of the Past at the Mozarteum University Salzburg deals with cultures of remembrance from the 1920s to the 1990s. The critical reflection on the university's political past, especially during the periods of Austrofascism, National Socialism and the post-war era, plays just as important a role as art projects against forgetting and for greater awareness. Researchers are currently conducing a citizen research project that invites the local community to share relevant documents and contemporary accounts.
