MA BA

Chris Wang has been Senior Lecturer for Dance at the Orff Institute of the Mozarteum University Salzburg since 2021. His artistic and pedagogical work focuses on inclusive and socially engaged dance practices, exploring dance as a meeting point between art, education and research.

After completing his stage dance training at the Music and Art Private University of the City of Vienna, Chris Wang began his professional career at the Opera Graz. Between 2010 and 2018, he performed there both as a guest soloist and ensemble member of the ballet company under the direction of Darrel Toulon and Jörg Weinöhl. Alongside his engagements in Graz, he collaborated as a freelance dancer with numerous Austrian and international choreographers, including Jérôme Bel, Natalia Horecna, Nikolaus Adler and Helge Letonja.

Chris Wang later continued his studies in dance pedagogy at the Anton Bruckner Private University. Since 2009, he has worked extensively in the field of dance in social and inclusive contexts through projects and organisations such as danceability austria, Bewegte Interaktion and the Caritas initiative Tanz die Toleranz. Since 2014, his work has increasingly focused on integrative and inclusive dance education and the social potential of dance.

In addition to his teaching activities, Wang is active in academic research. He regards dance education as an interdisciplinary field connecting artistic practice, pedagogy and research. He is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and is also enrolled in the MAS Dance Science programme at the University of Bern.
