Barbara Tischitz

Barbara Tischitz has taught at the Orff Institute since 2014 and has been Senior Lecturer since 2019. Her work focuses on inclusive music and movement education across different age groups, from parent-child programmes to intergenerational and senior education.

Barbara Tischitz trained as a secondary school teacher in music and German as well as a special education teacher before studying Elemental Music and Movement Pedagogy at the Orff Institute of the Mozarteum University Salzburg. Following her studies, she worked as a music and movement educator at private schools and kindergartens in Spain.

For twelve years, Barbara Tischitz taught at the University College of Teacher Education Styria in the fields of rhythmics, music and movement, music-making in inclusive groups, early childhood music education and motopedagogy. Since joining the Orff Institute in 2014, she has worked in the area of didactics with students as well as with parent-child groups, mixed-age inclusive groups and senior citizens’ groups.

Barbara Tischitz is a member of the MTID (Music and Dance in Inclusion and Diversity) specialist group, the Inclusion and Diversity working group and the management team of the university programme “Music and Dance in Social Work and Integrative Education.” In addition to her university teaching, she is active internationally in the continuing education of teachers and kindergarten educators and works with vaLeo GmbH in the fields of motogeragogy and intergenerational competence.
