    Festivals & Academies … Home Festivals & Academies Baroque Summer Academy in Siena Baroque Summer Academy in Siena Since 2021, the Moarteum University's Department of Early Music has organised a  Baroque Summer Academy in Siena, Italy, as part of the renowned Accademia Musicale Chigiana. The cooperation with Siena's Chigiana Foundation enables the teaching of Early Music in a unique setting influenced by Baroque and Renaissance. Baroque Summer Academy 26th Aug - 2nd Sept 2023 Palazzo Chigi SaraciniVia di Città 8953100 Sienachigiana.org   DepartmentEarly Music   The academy takes place over the period of one week, with the department's team of lecturers conducting intensive master classes for students from all over the world. In addition to classes, participants can expect concerts by students and faculty, orchestra projects and other activities. Highlights of the 2023 Academy were the performance of Henry Purcell's opera "Dido & Aeneas", incorporating a prologue and epilogue "Elissa" by Henry Fourès and Elisabeth Gutjahr, in collaboration with the Department of Opera and the Department of Scenography of the Mozarteum University, as well as a laboratory of contemporary music for early instruments under the direction of Simone Fontanelli and Vittorio Ghielmi; it can truly be said that this Summer Academy is among the best of its kind in Europe.     The Ö1 Talent Scholarship for Visual Arts, worth €10,000, is provided by Wiener Städtischer Versicherungsverein. The award is intended to support emerging talent among students at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, the University of Applied Arts Vienna, the University of Art and Design Linz, the Mozarteum University Salzburg and the University of Art and Design Graz.

    Rector Constanze Wimmer takes up her post with a new team at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg 
    The four-year term of office for the new Rectorate of the Mozarteum University Salzburg begins on 1 April 2026. Music educator Constanze Wimmer will lead the institution. Together with her team – Hannfried Lucke, Karin Skarek, Helmut Schaumberger and Eugen Banauch – she aims to provide key impetus for the further development of the arts, teaching and research. A warm welcome to them all!

All university members are welcome to become involved and support its work.
