    Alek Niemiro receives the Austrian Art Alumni Award 2025 
    Alek Niemiro, a graduate of the Thomas Bernhard Institute's directing programme, has been awarded the new Austrian Art Alumni Award for his project ‘Last Hour of Resistance’. Starting this year, the award will be presented annually by the BMFWF and Austrian art universities to selected outstanding graduates, and comes with a twelve-month scholarship worth €24,000. Congratulations!

The university's internal Research Competition Mozarteum (RCM) took place for the 5th time in 2023 and has established itself as a fixed part of the university's annual schedule. On December 6, the best submissions were honored at the Award Ceremony with the involvement of the international RCM jury.

    Peter Schreiner, Senior Lecturer for Photography & New Media at the Department of Fine Arts and Design, will be awarded the Annual Scholarship for Photography in 2023. The scholarship is awarded annually by the province of Salzburg and has been endowed with Euro 12,000 since 2023.

    "Co-CreART. Co-Creating Change!" nominated for the Sustainability Award 2024 
    The combination of artistic-creative and scientific-technical approaches is at the centre of the inter- and transdisciplinary project "Co-CreART. Co-Creating Change" project. Together with children and young people, the CreART Lab will be developed over the next few years, a mobile educational space with various opportunities to engage with innovative ideas and possible solutions on the topics of sustainable building and living as well as climate-friendly mobility. As one of 12 projects out of 182 submissions, "Co-CreART. Co-Creating Change" came out on top in the "Learning" category.

With the Salzburg AG Art Prize, Salzburg AG promotes artistic engagement with the theme of ‘energy’. Theme of the first edition: Data Whispers: Making the Invisible Visible – congratulations!

    "Go back, Tarquinius!" – comes the warning from the opera's narrator to the son of the Etruscan king. But the tragedy is already unfolding at pace: Tarquinius falls upon Lucretia, the wife of his comrade Collatinus, and rapes her, in spite of her fierce reistance. The next day, Lucretia takes her own life in public. Benjamin Britten's dark chamber opera, premiered in 1946 at Glyndebourne, resounds with the traumatic experiences of fascism and war.

    ars docendi 2025 state prize for teaching excellence bernhard gwiggner 
    The artist and art pedagogue Ao. Univ.-Prof. MMag. Bernhard Gwiggner has been awarded the 2025 Ars Docendi prize for teaching excellence by the Austrian state. The interdisciplinary cooperation "tradition2go: zwischen kultur und wahnsinn" ("between culture and madness") was a collaboration during the 2023/34 academic year between the Sculpture Class at the Mozarteum University and the Salzburg Museum. The project went hand in hand with the exhibition "Masks, Traditional Costumes, Cult Objects - 100 Years of Folk Culture" at the Salzburger Monatsschlössl Hellbrunn.
