    Muriel Razavi and Sào Soulez Larivière took up their viola professorships at the University Mozarteum Salzburg on October 1. Both have received numerous awards, are active worldwide as soloists and chamber musicians, and invest a great deal in the future of classical music.

    Salzburg Cultural Fund Prize awarded to Yvonne Wasserloos 
    Yvonne Wasserloos, university professor of musicology, has been awarded the International Grand Prize for Science & Research (worth €12,000) by the Cultural Fund of the City of Salzburg for her outstanding achievements as a researcher, including her work on ‘Music and Power – Dimension and Context’ and her research on the social, political and cultural significance of music – especially in connection with democracy and the culture of remembrance. Congratulations!

    Research award for Judith Rubatscher 
    Judith Rubatscher, graduate of music education at the Mozarteum Innsbruck, was awarded a research prize by the Kanda Center of the University of Innsbruck for her ethnomusicological thesis "'Singen is a part vo unsam leben.' Die aktuelle Gesangspraxis der Schmiedeleut-I-Hutterer in Manitoba" (Supervisor: Ao. Univ.-Prof. Dr. Thomas Nußbaumer). Rubatscher dealt with the musical tradition of the Hutterites, a Tyrolean Anabaptist community from the 16th century, which today is only represented in North America.
