    In a meeting with the senate chairpersons of Austrian universities at the end of October, representatives of the Ministry of Education provided information about a planned amendment to the Universities Act. The intention to disempower the senates and thus massively restrict the constitutionally guaranteed freedom of science and art is evident.

    Awards of the Research Competition Mozarteum 2022 
    And the Winner Is ... the Mozarteum 2022 Research Competition has been decided! This year's award for particularly successful artistic-scientific research proposals goes to Heike Henning for her collaborative project proposal "Rethinking and Innovating Choral Musicking in the Digital Space", which is currently being prepared for submission to the Austrian Science Fund FWF in cooperation with the University of Liechtenstein and the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences.

    Pianist Charmaine Yang, a master's student at the Mozarteum University, has been awarded the 2025/26 annual scholarship from the Fondation Armand & Nicky Delvaux, under the patronage of the Fondation de Luxembourg, for her outstanding academic achievements. The scholarship is worth €20,000. Congratulations!

    The Czech pianist Robert Bily, winner of The Sir Ian Stoutzker Prize 2022 and student of Pavel Gililov, wins the Alexis Gregory Vendome Piano Prize 2024, receiving the prize money of 30,000 dollars, and will also give several concerts in the United States and Europe.

    The flutist and instrumental music teacher Sofiia Musina came to Salzburg to study at the Mozarteum University in April 2022. From 2017 to 2022, she studied at the Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University in Ukraine and obtained a Master's degree in ‘Master of Musical Art. Educational and Professional Programme: Musical Art’. She wrote her master's thesis on the Ukrainian composer Myroslav Skoryk.

    Orange the World - Orange our University 
    Violence against women (and minorities) is omnipresent, firmly anchored in our patriarchal structures, and is one of the most widespread human rights violations. In order to increase the visibility of the numerous initiatives of the United Nations and other organisations in relation to this topic, the UN campaign ‘Orange the World’ (OTW) introduced a uniform, strong subject colour. In keeping with its mission as an educational institution with social responsibility, the Mozarteum University is also taking part in ‘Orange the World’ during the ‘16 days against gender-based violence’ (25 November - 10 December).
