    A Farewell After Eight Remarkable Years 
    A defining eight-year period at the Mozarteum University Salzburg comes to an end on 31 March 2026 with the conclusion of the current rectorate’s term of office, under the leadership of Rector Elisabeth Gutjahr. In recognition of her service, she has been awarded the Grand Decoration of Honour in Gold for Services to the Republic of Austria. Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Mario Kostal is to retire, while Vice Rector for Resources Anastasia Weinberger will continue to contribute to the Austrian higher education sector as Technical Committee Chair for Sailing at the International University Sports Federation. Hannfried Lucke has been re-appointed as Vice Rector for Art.

    International Summer Academy 
    From 13th July to 8th August, Salzburg once again became an international hub for talented young musicians. Around 500 participants from all over the world took part in the Mozarteum International Summer Academy, working across 50 masterclasses, Young Excellence classes and numerous other programmes under the artistic direction of Hannfried Lucke. Alongside the tuition, public concerts by teaching staff and matinees featuring the prize-winners ensured packed houses throughout.

    The Association Européenne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen (AEC) is a trans-national organisation with the aim of networking music colleges across Europe and jointly maintaining high international standards of education. Between 5 and 8 November 2025, the AEC will hold a congress at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, which will focus on topics such as leadership, resilience, professional skills and health care within university-level music education.
