On October 1, six new university professors, mezzo-soprano Zoryana Kushpler, pianist Ya-Fei Chuang, guitarist Andrea De Vitis, innovation researcher and computer scientist Christopher Lindinger, violist Muriel Razavi and violist Sào Soulez Larivière, began their work at the Mozarteum University. Muriel Razavi and Sào Soulez Larivière took up their viola professorships at the University Mozarteum Salzburg on October 1. Both have received numerous awards, are active worldwide as soloists and chamber musicians, and invest a great deal in the future of classical music.

Six finalists out of a total of 19 participants from the Mozarteum University competed yesterday with an overall artistic concept in the string and wind instrument categories for the coveted The Sir Ian Stoutzker Prize 2023, which is once again endowed with 20,000 euros this year. The prize honours an outstanding student personality who knows how to impress with their musical creativity, poetry and unique charisma. The outstanding winner is 25-year-old cellist Ema Krečič.

The Sir Ian Stoutzker Prize of the Mozarteum University was offered for the first time in 2019 and annually honors a student personality who knows how to convince with musical creative power, poetry and a unique charisma. The sponsor of the highly endowed award (20,000 euros) is the successful British businessman and philanthropist Sir Ian Stoutzker, who founded the organization Live Music Now together with Yehudi Menuhin in 1977.

Five finalists competed for the coveted 20,000 euro The Sir Ian Stoutzker Prize 2022 (made up from 2021) at the Solitaire of the Mozarteum University yesterday (14 April). The evening's double winner was pianist Robert Bily, who enchanted both the high-calibre jury and the audience with a breathtaking interpretation of Ludwig van Beethoven's Waldstein Sonata (Piano Sonata No. 21 in C major op. 53), Claude Debussy's Images I and Siegfried Thiele's Perpetuum Mobile.

The Sir Ian Stoutzker Prize, launched at the Mozarteum University in 2019, has produced six winners! In the spirit of interdisciplinarity and inclusion, the selection process was open to all students of the Mozarteum University for the first time. The outstanding winner of the evening is the soprano Veronika Loy.

The Sir Ian Stoutzer Prize, endowed with 20,000 euros, is awarded annually to students from artistic instrumental and vocal classes at the Mozarteum University. The sponsor of the highly endowed award is the British businessman and philanthropist Sir Ian Stoutzker.

With the overture from Axur, re d'Ormus by Antonio Salieri, followed by Joseph Haydn's Sinfonia concertante in B flat major Hob I: 105 and the Prague Symphony in D major K. 504 by Wolfgang A. Mozart, Maestro Ion Marin and the Academy Orchestra of the Mozarteum University will also perform at the Mozart Week in 2024. The orchestra made its debut during Mozart Week 2023.

Every year, the Mozarteum University honours students majoring in violin who have shown particular talent and achievement with the Paul Roczek Award, which is endowed with 10,000 euros. The winner of the Paul Roczek Award 2023 is Andreas Siles-Mellinger.

Awards for excellent master theses 2020/2021 Since the academic year 2016/2017, the Mozarteum University has been awarding the "Prize for excellent master theses". This award recognizes outstanding theses of graduates who dedicate themselves to their chosen topics in an innovative, original, unusual or particularly sustainable way. Numerous master classes, a contemporary BaroqueLab, concerts and an opera production: The Baroque Summer Academy of the Department of Early Music of the Mozarteum University will take place for the third time in 2023 within the framework of the renowned Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, Italy. A highlight in 2023 is the performance of the baroque opera "Dido & Aeneas" by H. Purcell with contemporary prologue and epilogue "Elissa" by Henry Fourès and Rector Elisabeth Gutjahr. "Elissa" was successfully premiered at the Mozarteum University in June 2023.

Mayumi Hirasaki (Univ.-Prof. of Baroque Violin) is honored in the category “Concert Recording of the Year” for her CD “Pisendel” with Concerto Köln on the Berlin Classic label, Max Volbers (Senior Lecturer at the Department of Early Music) in the category “ Young Artist of the Year” for his CD “Whispers of Tradition” on the Genuin label.
