On November 3, the highly endowed Ö1 Talent Scholarship for Visual Arts was awarded at the Leopold Museum. The audience award of Ö1 listeners went to Angelika Wienerroither, who studies photography and painting at the Department of Fine Arts and Design. She wins a free participation in the "Artist Statement" at Parallel Vienna 2023.

Two projects from Mozarteum University Salzburg have been included in the “Atlas of Good Teaching”, a nationwide platform showcasing innovative teaching initiatives at Austrian universities. The Pre-College ensemble project Bella Musica and the university teaching initiative LAUT:SPRECHER demonstrate how artistic excellence, academic reflection and social responsibility can be combined in higher education in the arts. Both projects provide inspiring examples of participatory, future-oriented teaching practice.

ENViL is creating the prototype of a "Common European Framework of Reference on Visual Literacy" (CEFR_VL). This reference framework describes competences that European citizens must have in the field of visual arts and applied arts (architecture and design) as well as in everyday visual culture if they are to participate in culture and society as responsible citizens.

Under the theme "Sharing", this new event format will enable encounters and networking between all pedagogical fields of study at the Mozarteum University.

Every year, the Mozarteum University welcomes around 1,000 young musicians from all over the world to the festival city of Salzburg and offers more than 80 master classes in composition, conducting, voice, piano, guitar and classical orchestral instruments, as well as an orchestra academy with outstanding teachers.

The Department of Early Music brings together the diverse competencies and the lively character of early music and its performance practice in an interdisciplinary way. The goal is a qualification that takes into account both personal inclinations and professional perspectives.

Five finalists competed for the coveted 20,000 euro The Sir Ian Stoutzker Prize 2022 (made up from 2021) at the Solitaire of the Mozarteum University yesterday (14 April). The evening's double winner was pianist Robert Bily, who enchanted both the high-calibre jury and the audience with a breathtaking interpretation of Ludwig van Beethoven's Waldstein Sonata (Piano Sonata No. 21 in C major op. 53), Claude Debussy's Images I and Siegfried Thiele's Perpetuum Mobile.

2025 offers countless opportunities to look back on the past 80 years. The Second World War ended in Europe on 8 May 1945 with “Liberation Day,” marked by Germany’s unconditional surrender and the final collapse of the Nazi regime. In the months leading up to this, Allied forces had liberated the concentration camps.

Since October 2019, Spot On MozART has been dedicated to the visual exploration of listening and thus to a new understanding of the music of Wolfgang Amadé Mozart. At the end of the project in autumn 2023, the Mozarteum University will present a retrospective of all implemented art and research projects in a comprehensive publication.

Every year, the Paul Roczek Award in the amount of 10,000 euros is presented by the Mozarteum University to students majoring in violin who have demonstrated exceptional talent, special achievement or unusual commitment to the artistic goals of the Mozarteum.

In 2024, the Platform on Politics of the Past was established at the Mozarteum University Salzburg. As a public platform, its purpose is to provide a forum for discussing questions and presenting research findings relating to the historical political positioning and decisions of the Mozarteum University. All university members are welcome to become involved and support its work.
