The Department of Early Music is where the lively character of early music and its performance practice is brought together with the diverse competencies and versatility required of the performers. The department prides itself on offering teaching and study programmes that take into account both personal interests and professional perspectives. At the heart of the department is a distinguished faculty that includes some of the most renowned performers and scholars in the field of early music.

Caught between Baroque and contemporary music, Kai Röhrig and Florentine Klepper's opera class set out in search of clues with ‘Medusa / Giuditta’, following on from the successful double bill ‘Elissa / Dido & Aeneas’ in 2023.
Armela Madreiter, graduate of the Mozarteum University and dramaturge for the current music theatre production by Florentine Klepper and Kai Röhrig's opera class, Medusa / Giuditta, talks about fruitful collaboration, exciting female characters and crossing boundaries.
The International Society of Mozarteum University Salzburg finances an ensemble scholarship for students or graduates of the Mozarteum University - interdisciplinary concepts are welcome!
Auf dem Programm stehen das Flötenkonzert „La Notte“ von Vivaldi, die Kantate „Der Morgen“ von Teleman, Haydns Sinfonie „Le Midi“ und Auszüge aus Bachs Kantate „Bleib bei uns, denn es will Abend werden“.
(Ort: Rittersaal, Residenz Salzburg) Ein klingendes Panorama der Jahreszeiten: Frühling mit Guido, Maki Ishii und Gamben-Soli, Sommer mit Purcell und Vivaldi, Herbst mit Simpson, Takemitsu und Boismortier, Winter mit Szenen aus Purcells Fairy Queen und King Arthur.
Das neue Gebäude der Universität wird erstmals musikalisch belebt. Vier Gruppen (Sirius, Polarstern, Canopus, Arktur) bespielen je drei Räume mit Sternzeichen von Stockhausen und Telemanns Solofantasien für Gambe, für Flöte und für Violine.
