The Department of Early Music is where the lively character of early music and its performance practice is brought together with the diverse competencies and versatility required of the performers. The department prides itself on offering teaching and study programmes that take into account both personal interests and professional perspectives. At the heart of the department is a distinguished faculty that includes some of the most renowned performers and scholars in the field of early music.

    Martin Schneider (graduate baroque violin / baroque viola with Mayumi Hirasaki, master's degree in historical performance practice with Reinhard Goebel) was awarded the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research's appreciation prize on 21 November 2024 in Vienna.
