Marcello Gatti studied music and flute in Perugia and early music in Verona, then under the direction of Barthold Kuijken at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, graduating with honors in 1997. Especially appreciated by critics for his sensitive cantabile, he performs worldwide with Renaissance, Baroque, Classical and Romantic flutes.
Marcello Gatti has an extensive repertoire, both as a soloist and in chamber and orchestral ensembles, among the most prestigious and specialized in the field: Ensemble Aurora, Ensemble Zefiro, Europa Galante, Accademia Bizantina, Le Concerts de Nations, Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra , L'Orfeo Baroque Orchestra, Il Pomo d'Oro, Hofkapelle Munich, Cantus Cölln, Attaignant Consort, Tafelmusik, Ensemble 1700, Hofkapelle Stuttgart, Salzburger Hofmusik and many others. He has worked on more than 80 productions, including audio and video recordings with period instruments. After several years of teaching at the "Felix Mendelssohn" University in Leipzig and at various Italian conservatories, he has been a professor for historical flute at the renowned Mozarteum University in Salzburg since 2014, as well as at the summer courses of the Accademia Musicale Chigiana (Siena) and the Fondazione Italiana Musica Antica in Urbino.
