Baroque Summer Academy in Siena

Since 2021, the Baroque Summer Academy of the Department of Early Music of the Mozarteum University has been held in Siena, Italy, as part of the renowned Accademia Musicale Chigiana. The cooperation with the Chigiana Foundation of Siena enables the teaching of Early Music in a special atmosphere influenced by Baroque and Renaissance.

Department
Early Musik

 

For one week, the department's team of lecturers will conduct
intensive master classes for interested students from all over the world. In addition to classes, there are concerts by students and faculty, orchestra projects and other activities.

A highlight in 2023 is the performance of the opera "Dido & Enea" by H. Purcell with prologue and epilogue "Elissa" by Henry Fourès and Elisabeth Gutjahr in collaboration with the Department of Opera & Music Theater & the Department of Scenography of the Mozarteum University, as well as a laboratory of contemporary music for early instruments under the direction of Simone Fontanelli and Vittorio Ghielmi, making this Summer Academy one of the most qualified in Europe.
