And the winner is... The university's internal Research Competition Mozarteum (RCM) took place for the 6th time in 2024 and has established itself as a fixed part of the university's annual schedule. A new research project at the Department of Music Education Innsbruck deals with virtual rehearsals and music making in digital and virtual space, which require communication in real time. The project investigates the use of digital tools in the cultural field, especially to support choirs.

The Sir Ian Stoutzker Prize, launched at the Mozarteum University in 2019, has produced six winners! In 2020, the author Helena Adler's second novel Die Infantin trägt den Scheitel links was published by Jung und Jung. The book landed at number five on the ORF bestseller list in April 2020; she opened the O-Töne literature festival in 2020 with a reading from the book. In August 2020, the novel was longlisted for the German Book Prize. At the end of August 2022, her third book was published: Fretten, which was nominated for the Austrian Book Prize 2022.

The harpist Isla Biffin, a Master's student at the Mozarteum University, has been awarded the 2024/25 annual scholarship from the Fondation Armand & Nicky Delvaux under the patronage of the Fondation de Luxembourg for her outstanding academic achievements. The scholarship is endowed with 20,000 euros. Our warmest congratulations!

Although cultural life in various Nazi-occupied countries manifested distinctive differences in outlook between 1939 and 1945, partially accountable to specific national traditions and their historical and ideological relationship to German music and the political situation, one factor that appears to bind all musical activity in these areas is the consistent presence of the music of Ludwig van Beethoven.

A Year of Vibrant Musical Activity – Spotlight on the June 16 Concert in Vienna: The 2024/2025 academic year has been exceptionally dynamic for the guitar department at Mozarteum University Salzburg. Guitar students have taken part in a wide range of artistic and educational activities, reflecting the department’s vitality and high artistic standards. Among the most notable events is the upcoming concert on June 16, 2025, at the Italian Cultural Institute in Vienna, titled: “Vienna and Italy in Dialogue: The Guitar as a Bridge Between Two Traditions.”
