Welcome to the library of the Mozarteum University, the center of knowledge for students, teachers, researchers and all those interested.

The Staff Council of University Teachers (DA1 / BR1) is responsible for all university professors, university assistants and contract assistants as well as federal and contract teachers at the Mozarteum University who are employed by the federal government under public law.

The versatile and renowned violinist, project manager and lecturer Franziska Strohmayr grew up in Augsburg and came to Salzburg to study, where she still lives today after graduating from the Mozarteum University under Prof. Martin Mumelter and Prof. Wolfgang Gratzer and from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London under Prof. Jacqueline Ross.

The Institute for Coaching & Career accompanies and supports students with appropriate offers and a holistic approach for a long-term career. It offers a platform for exchange and discussion, and is dedicated to topics such as individual success, health and making an impact on society.

With the positive completion of the admission examination and the enrollment in the study program, the official entry into student life is accomplished. Here students can find interesting facts about the beginning of their studies.

Anna Barbara Kastelewicz, a graduate of the Department of Musicology at the Mozarteum University, was recently honoured with the Award of Excellence for her dissertation on "Music, culture and cultural activities in the special camps of the Soviet occupying power 1945 - 1950 in the Soviet Occupation Zone and the GDR". Congratulations!

Following a successful masterclass and a sold-out concert with the Bläserphilharmonie Mozarteum Salzburg in March 2025, Christian Thielemann will take up a position as Professor of Orchestral Conducting at the Mozarteum University in October 2026. Violinist Lisa Batiashvili and pianist Claudio Martínez Mehner will also begin teaching in the 2026/27 academic year.

The four-year term of office for the new Rectorate of the Mozarteum University Salzburg begins on 1 April 2026. Music educator Constanze Wimmer will lead the institution. Together with her team – Hannfried Lucke, Karin Skarek, Helmut Schaumberger and Eugen Banauch – she aims to provide key impetus for the further development of the arts, teaching and research. The game project "Black Day," which was created with young people from the NMS Lehen as part of the interdisciplinary artistic as well as cultural and media education research project schnitt # stellen, received a Prix Ars Electronica Award U14. After a Prix Ars Electronica last year and the European Youth Culture Award in the Science and Research category, this is the third major award for the research project.

The library's holdings are located in the reading room, the media library, the book depository, and the library's reading room in the Orff Institute. The works in the open access area in the reading room cannot be borrowed and can only be used on site, while the majority of the other media can be borrowed.
