Volker Wahl

Volker Wahl completed degrees in theatre studies and German language and literature in Vienna, after which he worked as an assistant director at the Volksoper Wien and trained as an actor in Vienna and Los Angeles. From 1996 to 2012 he was a permanent member of the company at the Schauspielhaus Salzburg, and since 2012 he has been a freelance actor and director, with his portfolio including productions at the Salzburg Festival, the Rome Opera House, La Scala Milan, the Vereinigte Bühnen Bozen, Bühne Baden and the Lehárfestival Bad Ischl, among others. He has worked with artists such as Peter Stein, Alvis Hermanis, Simon Stone, Christine Mielitz, Riccardo Muti, Ingo Metzmacher and Franz Welser-Möst.
Since 2018 he has taught stagecraft for opera singers, performance training, acting and improvisation at the Mozarteum University.
