Angelika Luz
Angelika Luz is an internationally active soprano, performer and director specialising in contemporary music and interdisciplinary vocal art. A former member of the Neue Vocalsolisten, she has premiered over 150 new works and combines her artistic work with an extensive teaching and directing career.
After completing her training at the HMDK Stuttgart, Angelika Luz was engaged as a coloratura soprano at the Landestheater Salzburg, the opera houses of Cologne and Zurich, and the Hamburg State Opera, as well as at other opera stages across Europe.
As a soloist, she has worked with orchestras and chamber ensembles such as Ensemble Modern, ensemble recherche and Klangforum Wien. She has appeared at major festivals for contemporary music, given over 150 world premieres and made numerous studio and radio recordings. She co-founded the ensemble Neue Vocalsolisten, of which she was a member from 2000 to 2007.
From 2007 to 2022, Angelika Luz held a professorship for New Music/Voice at the HMDK Stuttgart, where she directed the Studio für Stimmkunst und Neues Musiktheater. She has also shared her expertise through international masterclasses in contemporary music, vocal art, improvisation and acting.
Angelika Luz has worked as a dramaturge and director on more than 50 productions, most of them interdisciplinary and combining elements such as music, voice, staging, light, spoken word, multimedia, dance, fragrance and puppetry.
Her most recent work includes the development of projects in Germany and Austria in which she takes a leading role as a vocal performer, interacting improvisationally with artistic objects, architecture and natural environments.
