Christian Ofenbauer (b. 1961) is a composer and music theorist whose work spans composition, performance and research. Alongside his international activity as an organist, conductor and composer, he has been Professor of Music Theory and Composition at the Mozarteum University Salzburg since 2001, with a particular focus on interpretation studies and the theory of 20th- and 21st-century music.

Christian Ofenbauer studied organ with Herbert Tachezi and composition with Alfred Uhl and Friedrich Cerha at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. From 1989 to 2001, he held various teaching positions and guest professorships in Germany and Austria. Concerts and radio recordings as an organist, conductor and composer have taken him throughout Europe and to Asia.

Since 2001, he has been Professor of Music Theory and Composition at the Mozarteum University Salzburg. In 2016, he received his doctorate in musicology from the University of Salzburg. He is also active as a visual artist and holds the rank of 5th Dan in Japanese archery (kyūdō).
