    Loud sign for Maria Kalesnikava 

    On 24 April 2024, flautist, democracy campaigner in Belarus and honorary professor at Mozarteum University Maria Kalesnikava will turn 42. However, there has been no sign of life from her for more than a year. Neither her family nor her lawyers are allowed to communicate with her. Despite her fragile state of health following an emergency operation more than a year ago, Maria Kalesnikava is apparently in solitary confinement.

    Awarding of ensemble scholarship 

    The presentation concert of the scholarship holders of the newly created ensemble scholarship A (one-year) Start Up for Ensemble(s) took place in the impressive ambience of Schloss Leopoldskron at the beginning of April. In cooperation with "The International Society of Mozarteum University Salzburg", over 44.000 euros will be made available to students or graduates of the Mozarteum University Salzburg.

    On the future of Music Education 

    On April 4 and 5, 2024, the 24th "Music Didactics Austria" conference took place at Frohnburg Castle of the Mozarteum University in cooperation with the Salzburg Education Directorate and the Salzburg University of Teacher Education. After an opening by Vice-Rector Mario Kostal and Daniela Gutschi, State Councillor for Education, a video message from Vice-Rector Matteo Carmignola of the Salzburg University of Teacher Education and a keynote speech by Martina Müller (BMBWF), the conference focused on the future of music education.

    A new home - Ziyu He 

    Ziyu He was one of the youngest soloists in the Vienna Philharmonic when he made his debut at the Musikverein under Adam Fischer in 2017 at the age of just 18. The year before, he won both the International Mozart Competition in Salzburg and the Yehudi Menuhin Competition, and in 2014 he was the Eurovision Young Musician of the Year. He is a violinist with the renowned Altenberg Trio.
