The brass section of the Mozarteum University is starting the new year 2024 with a new ensemble! "Prima Vista" is the name of the inaugural concert of the large brass ensemble, which will be conducted by Patrik Hofer, Senior Lecturer in Trumpet at the Mozarteum since 2022.

Students in brass classes will be given the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of brass chamber music with this ensemble of 10 to 15 musicians. In the spirit of Philip Jones, who made a significant contribution to opening up the world of chamber music for brass instruments in Europe from the middle of the 20th century.

"Prima Vista", an expression that is normally used when musicians see sheet music for the first time and "sight-read". "With this concert, however, we want to offer our audience a "Prima Vista", a first introduction to the newly founded brass ensemble, so to speak," explains Patrik Hofer.

Hofer brings together students from all the brass classes at the school. For this first concert, they have rehearsed a journey through the literature of this instrumentation. From the Renaissance to the 20th century, from gavotte to polka, original works and arrangements of well-known works from music history - an entertaining evening, a lively start to the weekend is guaranteed!
