The Association Européenne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen (AEC) is a trans-national organisation with the aim of networking music colleges across Europe and jointly maintaining high international standards of education. Between 5 and 8 November 2025, the AEC will hold a congress at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, which will focus on topics such as leadership, resilience, professional skills and health care within university-level music education.

On March 10, 2022, project participants and interested parties met at the Spot On MozART Lounge in the Small Studio of the Mozarteum University. A cozy "come together" with films and an exhibition on the current Spot On MozART projects. We accompanied the event for you.

In a varied hour, students tell under the direction of Andreas Groethuysen and Benjamin Schmid, who also plays the part of the solo violin, three musical animal stories in cooperation with the Salzburg Marionette Theater.

The play deals with transgenerational remembering in the form of collected stories of the ((great-)grand-))parents and the confrontation with what they have experienced. The idea is to be able to influence future events by dealing with the past.

The four-year term of office for the new Rectorate of the Mozarteum University Salzburg begins on 1 April 2026. Music educator Constanze Wimmer will lead the institution. Together with her team – Hannfried Lucke, Karin Skarek, Helmut Schaumberger and Eugen Banauch – she aims to provide key impetus for the further development of the arts, teaching and research. In this work package, strategies are to be developed on how universities and museums can better know and benefit from each other. The HRSM project "Instrument Collections in Salzburg and Innsbruck" is exemplary. The aim is to develop a concept on how the potential between universities and museums could be better used, to increase knowledge transfer and to implement a contact person for museums at the universities.

It is with great sorrow that the Mozarteum University announces the passing of George Kern, one time Professor of Piano and Chamber Music. The long association of the American pianist with the institution began in 1975; he continued to teach at the Mozarteum University until his retirement in 2018.
